Seismic Safety Assessments

As part of the Local Emergency Planning Committee requirements in California, Seismic Assessments are required every five (5) years and are performed as part of an overall risk assessment mandated by the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 19. It is intended to minimize the likelihood of release of a significant quantity of any regulated substance at a facility due to an earthquake, and to prevent, with reasonable assurance, any offsite consequences related to a release. The objective of the assessment is to evaluate the capacity of the seismic support structures of the select equipment, components and systems to withstand the CalARP demand earthquake forces. The select equipment and systems are those whose loss of structural integrity, position or functionality would result in a significant release of the regulated substance through loss of containment or control.
